Trout season will start on the 3rd Saturday of October.  No trout may be taken out of the lake until the legal opening date, which is at 5:00 a.m. on October 15.  The parks normal opening hours are 6:00 a.m. to dusk.  To participate, anglers must have a fishing license and an inland trout stamp, unless they are under 16 years of age, blind or disabled, or an Illinois resident on leave from the Armed Forces.  The catch limit for each angler is five trout per day.  For more information contact the IDNR Division of Fisheries at 217-782-6424.

Fishing Reels

There are Zebco fishing rods and reels available at the Greenville Library.  There is no charge to rent them.  The first time a youth rents one of the rods and reels they will receive a small tackle box free.  This is a cooperative effort through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division, the Greenville Library and the Kingsbury Park District.
