Tumbling (CS #801-806)

 
 

 

The Kingsbury Park District is proud to partner with Sean Washington and the Greenville College Cheerleaders to bring you Tumbling. This session Sean will be overseeing the program with the squad doing the hands on tumbling work.  

The District offers different levels to accommodate skill levels from beginners to the more advanced tumbler. Participants will learn basic tumbling positions such as a tuck, forward roll, and bridge, to more advanced skills such as round offs, standing and round off back hand springs. Students will learn various positions and drills to develop body awareness, strength, and proper tumbling forms. Register quickly, as space in each class is limited to 8 participants.

Classes will be broken into several sessions throughout the year. Sessions will consist of one (1) class per week, for six (6) weeks.

 

Tumbling Tots (CS# 801 or CS# 802)

This Class is designed to introduce tumbling positions, drills, and movements such as tucks, bridges, handstands, forward rolls, cartwheels, round offs, and backbend kick-overs, along with some strengthening and flexibility.
*Participants must be fully potty trained*

Level One (CS# 803 or CS# 804)

This class is designed for beginner tumblers. An introduction to tumbling positions, drills, and movements such as tucks, straddles, bridges, handstands, forward rolls, cartwheels, round offs, and front & back handsprings, along with some strengthening and flexibility. A student will begin to develop a basic comprehension of back walkovers and front limbers. Proper form and technique is stressed regardless of age and is required to move up in Class Level.

Level Two (CS# 805 or CS# 806)

This class is designed to help the student further develop and achieve their back walk-overs and front limbers. This class will continue to build on their skills and start to develop a basic comprehension of a standing back handspring. Positions and various drills are used to develop body awareness, strength, and proper tumbling form. Proper form and technique is stressed regardless of age and is required to move up in Class Level.

            Prerequisites for this Class : student must be able to perform a cartwheel/round off with good form.

Level Three

This class is designed to help the student further develop and achieve their standing and round off back hand springs. This class will also focus on learning how to jump and set high, use proper tuck form, and how to perform a standing and round off back handspring, back tuck when the instructor says the student is ready for that skill. Positions and various drills are used to develop body awareness, strength, and proper tumbling form. Proper form and technique is stressed regardless of age and is required to move up in Class Level.

            Prerequisites for this Class : Students must be able to perform a backbend kick over and front limber on their own.

Tuesday Session October 17 - December 5
No Class On Tuesday October 31 & Tuesday November 21

Thursday Session October 19 Thru December 7

No Class  on Thursday November 2 & Thursday November 23

 

In the case that we do not have enough participants to fill the minimum numbers for Tuesday & Thursday Sessions classes will be combined to one night.
